Altered Mixed Media Journal with Graphic 45's Once Upon A Springtime

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter! Mine was filled with food and family. My children enjoyed an Easter Egg Hunt courtesy of Grandma Easter Bunny. My daughter found the golden egg, which was fitting since hunting eggs is her favorite game all year round, lol!


The Once Upon a Springtime Collection was the first Graphic 45 collection that I discovered and remains my all-time favorite! I love it so much that I hoarded it forever, but I have finally let myself have fun and this journal is the result. As one of my first real forays into a full-on mixed media project, I altered this premade journal with gesso, gelatos, stencils, paste and, of course, fussy cuts from Once Upon a Springtime. I absolutely love how it turned out and I hope you all do, too! If you are a beginner with mixed media like me, follow along with me and my process tutorial on how I made this project.

May Art and Graphic 45 Blog Hop Day 3: Easter Matchbook Gift Box

This week Graphic 45 and May Arts Ribbon have teamed up for a blog hop full of inspirational projects and prizes.

Using a Graphic 45 Matchbook Box, I created a fun Easter box for candy. The March sheets of Children’s Hour provided beautiful images to create a layered scene. I love layering multiple bits of fussy cuts of the same image to add a 3-D effect to my little scene. The scene is inspired by traditional Easter activities of children sitting in the grass after Easter egg hunting. Beautiful May Art ribbons add a festive effect and their unique leaf ribbon is so perfect for surrounding the birds nest.

Altered Jewelry Armoire using Gilded Lily by Graphic 45

Good morning! Today is an eventful day! I have a fun project to share with you all, as well as it being my birthday and the 4th anniversary of starting this little blog! So, thank you to all who have stopped by, left comments and supported me in my love of crafting! I plan to get a give-away going soon in celebration of this milestone, so keep an eye out. I have been behind with everything since the kiddos got out of school for the summer, but I will get myself together soon! So, on to the project! I am so happy with this and my daughter even more so! I have turned a thrift store find into something fit for my little princess! Here is the before:

As you may notice, it was missing its glass on the left side. I used it as an excuse to get creative which you will see below in my parade of photos! ;)

Now for the after, using the gorgeous Gilded Lily Collection by Graphic 45:

I painted the armoire with white paint, dry brushed on some gold paint and used Mod Podge to adhere the papers and seal the whole thing. I used the 8x8 and 12x12 papers from the Gilded Lily Collection to get the patterns and images just as I wanted them. It was so much fun and my daughter loves it! I bought this jewelry armoire for $2.50!!! Can you believe it?! I'm now a little obsessed with my local thrift store, LOL! What amazing deals have you snatched up from your thrift store?
