For My Awesome Reader

My oldest son is now reading chapter books!  So, I decided to make him his own personalized bookmark tag! He picked the image and the colors and I got to it!
It's Kenny K's "Cool Trucker" colored with Copics. I used my Silhouette to cut out my son's name and then I used embossing powder to help them stand out! I challenged myself to use some sparkle on a boy's card for the Simon Says Stamp and Show Challenge and I thought "metallic paint!" So, for a boyish effect, I splatted the paint over the tag. (Unfortunately, my mask didn't keep all the paint off the image! Note to self: add image last!)
I hope when my son opens his book to read later today, he'll love it when he sees this:

Here's a close up of my coloring! My son is not one who tans easily, so I tried not to make the image too tan!

It's very minimalist, but perfect for a bookmark! I hope you all like it! Thanks as always for looking and following along with me on this new, fun and fantastic addiction!

I would like to enter this project into the following challenges:
Simon Says Stamp and Show (Sparkle- metallic paint)
Simon Says Stamps (Emboss it- Tristan)
Dutch Dare (For a boy)
Kenny Ks Krafty Krew (Fruity- lots of red for strawberries)

Belle

This card was a problem child! It has beautiful My Mind's Eye Sunshine paper, beautiful Wild Orchid Craft roses and a cute image. I just had a really hard time making it work. I still don't know if it dies. I've just stared at it and fiddled with it for so long today that I think I am used to it. Ya know, a mother's love kinda thing?
I think my problem is that I wanted it to fit too many challenges! Saturated Canary wanted "B's" (Belle, blooms, butterflies), Cupcake Craft Challenge wanted gold and script (the dp, but I covered most of it, and gold: Eiffel tower stamp), and others wanted Autumn hues which I am not fond of working with (that's why I have the pop of aqua), etc!
I definitely need to get some more WOC flowers, too, and in colors other than white!

Oh, well! Like I said, it's grown on me! I hope it grows on you all, too! And if it hasn't, you need to keep staring at it :)

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:
The Paper Shelter (Autumn colors)
Crafty Creations (Around the World- Eiffel tower)
Divas by Design (Lovely Layers)
Simon Says Stamp (Emboss it- on the right "carte postale")
Saturated Canary (B's- Belle, blooms, butterflies)
Papertake Weekly (Shaded of Autumn)
Cupcake Craft Challenges (Gold and Script)
Color Me Creative (Fall Colors)
Just Keep on Creating (anything goes)
Bunny Zoe (Distressing- Vintage photo on the paper edges)
The Crafty Pad (Autumn Hues)

Carmen Electrafying

What a week!  I finally got a chance to work on a card for the Kenny K Challenge! I had this sexy lady colored for over a month and when I heard that the challenge was black and white plus one, I thought it was a perfect chance to use her!

The top pic is better, the iPad just isn't letting me enlarge it:(

I've used Paper Studio again for the dp and copics for the coloring.  The Simon Says Stamps Challenge blog is asking for embossing, so I got out my never before used embossing folder that reminds me of reptilian skin and embossed some black card stock. It looked nice, but I wanted it shiny, so the only thing that popped into my head was to spread some Scotch's quick dry glue over it and it worked perfectly! I added some Wild Orchid Crafts metal corners to fill in the empty spots and a sentiment and called it a card!
Thanks for looking and have a wonderful weekend!

Holy Batman!

My son loves Batman. He was batman two years ago and he wants to be Batman again this year. This time he wants to be all black. But, making another Batman costume is not exactly getting me excited, but I'll probably give in and make one anyways. So, when I saw that the challenge for Simon Says Stamp and Show was Heroes, I immediately thought of my boys and superheroes.

I got the Batman image from an online coloring page (I didn't write it down, need to remember to do that) and printed it out. Well, since changing my printer ink, I have noticed that my printer ink and my copics don't get along. So, I had to wait for my husband to go to work and use his laser printer to print it out again. So, that is why I got on and did a card for my hubby first and now am posting my finally finished superhero card!

So, here is my card. (Have I annoyed you with all the "so's"?)

The black square isn't centered because I originally wanted the tips of the cape to be on the cobweb paper as much as possible, but after I stuck it down permanently, I changed my mind. Ugh!

I seem to be on a black and white kick, and with this weeks challenge over at Kenny K being black and white + one, I will be making another soon! I'm lovin' it, I just hope you all don't get bored!
I printed out some Batman comic strips from the internet as my background paper, stamped some cobwebs and distressed with Wild Honey Distress Ink for my next layer. I used some chevron scraps for my banner to work with the Trendy challenge for Simon Says Stamps!

I popped the black square up on double stacked foam dimensionals as well as the image, except for the tips of the cape and the bottom of the image. I was trying to go for a curved dimensional look.  I did the same to the birthday banner, except opposite so it is concave as opposed to convex like the image.

This card will be a hit with my six year old! As always, thanks for looking and for all the wonderful comments!

For my Hero

I've spent many hours farting around, downloading various and useless apps, signing up for various photo managing accounts, and trying them out and having very little success uploading photos from my iPad to blogger. BUT, I think I finally figured out a workable solution! Yay me! I'm sure there are better ways, but for  those interested, I will give you a brief step by step.

I think I will use Flickr to upload and edit my photos.  I can add a very basic watermark, which is cool! From there I go into the Blogsy app and drag my photo over to the post with my Flickr account. From there I can continue with my post or just save and post as a draft to my blog and work on it in blogger.  This is prolly common sense for most of you blog pros, but I had a really hard time figuring it out all on my lonesome:)

Anyways, back to the meat of the post! This is my card, ta-da. I am really loving using Mojo Monday sketches!  I used the computer for the main sentiment and regular stamps for the 'love' and 'forever'.

I used my silhouette to make the circle and scalloped circle.  I used Harper's Boutique by The Paper Studio for the dp, a Prima flower and Wild Orchid Craft leaves.
This was made for my husband and the sentiment is so perfect.  He has helped me become such a better person with my self-esteem and confidence.  He is the positive to my negative, the social to my anti- social. He really is my better half in so many ways!

He really liked this card and I hope you all do, too! Have a fabulous weekend!

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Simon Says Stamp Challenge (I'm so trendy- chevron)
Mojo Monday (sketch #258)
Papertake Weekly (things that make you go 'aww')

Cool Trucker

I have gotten around to making another card. It is supposed to be for my father in laws birthday, but I think it might be too young!?! I might have to make another, except I'm running out of time! His birthday is tomorrow! There is a birthday coming up for a friend of my son's, so maybe I'll save it for that!

The image is "Cool Trucker" from Kenny K.  I figure the browns and greens fit the autumnal theme going on at Kenny Ks Krafty Krew Challenge Blog!

I made my first rosette and used my Martha Stewart score board to do it!   I used a button I removed from one of my husbands old shirts and distressed the rosette with Vintage Photo.  Of course, I used Copics to color the fun digi.  It's a simple card which is good for a guy.  They don't appreciate all the embellishments like we do. (Most guys anyways)

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Kenny K Krafty Krew (autumn hues)
Cutie Pie Challenge (no flowers)

Black, White and a Touch of Pink

I checked out the Mojo Monday Blog and just loved the sketch they had, so here is my take.  The picture is horrible, partly because I'm not a photographer and mostly because it was taken at night on my dining room table. I stamped the paper behind the flower I made with a Tim Holtz Papillon stamp. The sentiment is from a stamp set I bought at Joann's when I first started card making!  The papers are the same ones I used for my Girly Steampunk card. I was able to get away with using mostly scraps!

The pink strip of paper is distressed with Tattered Rose Distress Ink. I am in desperate need of ribbon! The card would look so much better with pink ribbon and black ribbon, but paper had to substitute.  My crafty allowance this month will be taken up with a few Copics and, sadly a new paper trimmer. Boo:(.
I really like how this card looks IRL. It looks so elegant. Thanks for looking and have a fabulous rest of the weekend! Tomorrow I have some exciting news that I have been waiting to share with everyone, so stay tuned!

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Love Always

Hi all! I have a new color combo to share thanks to the inspiration photo challenge over at the Cupcake Craft Challenge blog!  I used 'Uptown Angel' from Kenny K for my lovely image. I colored her up with yellow, purple and grey copics.  The paper is My Minds Eye Breeze 6x6.

The bling is Kaisercraft and I used some Liquid Pearls on the sentiment. Of course the flowers are Wild Orchid Craft roses which I distressed with Milled Lavender and Wild Honey (the closest thing to yellow) Distress Inks and then sprayed them with a mini mister filled with water, glossy accents and Pearl-Ex. The sparkle looks real nice in person!
I almost had a fit trying to get the bling down. Maybe there is an easier way, but I took it all off the packaging and it all tangled up and became a bling ball.  I had to untangle what I could, cut some and reassemble. It was a hot mess. Thankfully I took a picture of it before, so I was able to reconstruct what and where things were supposed to go. Oh, card drama:)

I was really worried about the color combo, but I like it all put together!
I hope you all like it, too! And, please leave a comment. I love reading them all =)

Friends Forever

This is my second post tonight!  This card uses some My Minds Eye Madison Avenue and the dark one is from a pad I purchased at Hobby Lobby.  The image is from Saturated Canary.  They have a challeng going on to use dots.  The newsprint paper works for the Simon Says Stamp and Show Challenge.  The sentiment is an older stamp which works for Simon Says Stamp Challenge. I also stamped the doily with a script stamp.

I tried my hand at some fancy stitching, but it came out crooked as did many other elements on this card:( I guess I didn't get my V8;)
I used WOC flowers and stamens and the darker flowers are Prima. I thought the dark ones needed something, so I added some glitter glue to the edges. I did my first double bow. I did it twice because the first time I tried using distress inks for a grey and pink two-tone. It didn't turn out.
I colored up my girl as a practice since she was new, but decided to use her. That is why the purse is a random red.
My son says she needs a background and that is something I definitely need to work on.

The card has a Saturated Canary image, so I think I can't go too wrong!?!

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Oozak (Sparkle)
Totally Gorjuss (Sketch)
Papertake Weekly (Anything Goes)
Dream Valley (Old- Prima flowers, New- image and stamens)
Divas by Design (Friendship)
Whimsy Stamps (Layers)

Back to School

It's back to school at Kenny K's and I had to join in! I had some Graphic 45 paper for another project I didn't get around to, so I used that to start with and get my color palette.  Over at The Paper Shelter, the challenge is tags, so I added one from the do. G45 is the perfect paper to fussy cut for matching embellishments.  I used Queens Cutie for my image and used Copics.

It was a pretty fast-ish and simple card and I really liked how it turned out!
Thanks for looking and have a great rest of the day:)

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:
